At the completion of Year or Grade 10, students from the British  Sections have the option of continuing within their chosen section or opting to enter and to graduate from our IB Diploma Programme.

We offer a full IBDP in Year 11 and 12 which properly honours the IBO philosophy and curriculum design with students studying one subject from each of the 6 groups. Central to IBDP students learning journey is their commitment to CAS, TOK and their Extended Essay. Students completing the IBDP earn a globally recognised, prestigious qualification that universities understand, appreciate and give credit for.

Our IBDP students are well-supported by teachers who are properly credentialed and access IBDP training workshops.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) aims to go beyond the scope of traditional curricula by offering high-quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision. An IB education is informed by the values described in the learner profile and:

  • Centres on learners – the IB’s student-centred programmes promote healthy relationships, ethical responsibility and personal challenge.
  • Develops effective approaches to teaching and learning – IB programmes help students to develop the attitudes and skills they need for both academic and personal success.
  • Works within global contexts – IB programmes increase understanding of languages and cultures, and explore globally significant ideas and issues.
  • Explores significant content – IB programmes offer a curriculum that is broad and balanced, conceptual and connected.

IB learners strive to become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. These attributes of internationally minded people represent a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond intellectual development and academic success.

The IB is different from other curricula because it:

  • Encourages students to think critically and challenge what they are told.
  • Is independent of governments and national systems, and therefore able to incorporate best practice from a range of international frameworks and curricula.
  • Encourages students to consider both their local and international environment.

In order to teach IB programmes, schools must be authorized. CES is authorized to offer IB programmes and is known as an IB World School.
