The Cairo English School offers limited, specific learning support at both primary and secondary levels. The goal of the programme is to assist students with mild, specific learning difficulties in reading, writing, oral expression or numeracy.
CES is not able to offer support for students with serious or general learning difficulties or with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
In Primary School, the Learning Support specialist works closely with the class teachers of LS students, or in Secondary with core subject teachers to ensure that students in the LS programme are assisted with the skills necessary to function satisfactorily within the parameters of the regular curriculum.
The LS specialist also advises teachers on appropriate strategies for effective differentiation for LS students.
Parents of students who have been referred to the LS programme may be asked to have their child evaluated out of school at their own expense by the school’s recommended educational psychologists to establish standard measures of their child’s academic and cognitive skills or deficits in various areas. The results of such evaluations are used to refine individual learning programmes for LS students in order to accelerate learning.
