A lot has been going on in FS and KS1 since our last newsletter and we wanted to share some of the highlights with you...

On October 22nd and 23rd, the Year One students went on their first field trip, for this academic year. The trip was to Family Park, where, as part of their Science unit 'Animal including Humans', the students were able to explore the Senses Pavilion. There they were exposed to different textures, sounds, and smells that really enhanced their learning of the 5 senses.

After all the hard work was done, it was time to have some different kind of fun... Enjoying the rides and play areas after their picnic lunch!

What an exciting time it was on Thursday, November 2nd! All the children, and some staff, from FS1 to Year 2 strolled resplendently in their costumes for our annual Black & Orange Day Parade. Everyone looked fantastic and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the occasion. Here are just a few photos from this event...

Weekly class sharing assemblies are now in full swing. Each week a pair of classes present some of the learning that has taken place over the past week or two. They showcase this with all the other children in Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1.

For the children of FS1, this is their first experience of assemblies but they have settled into them very quickly and are able to express their enjoyment and participation as an audience. It is also an important time for the children, as this is when those who have been nominated by their class teachers for hard work, being a good friend, sharing, or even trying their hardest at something, are all acknowledged and rewarded by receiving a certificate from the Head, Mrs. Val, in front of their peers as they are applauded. Children also receive praise for good bus behaviour and for keeping the area outside their classrooms tidy.

Next term, we will begin inviting class parents to join us as we celebrate learning in our Assemblies, so please wait to hear from your child's teacher as to when your child's parent sharing assembly is.

Student Recognition in the community...
We are delighted to share the achievements of Anthony George Sami (Y2MM), for his recent success in the national skating championship and for achieving two Gold Medals in the 500m race and a Silver Medal in the 300m race. Well done Anthony!
