Secondary School News
November was another busy month in the Secondary School. Selected students attended the Remembrance Day Service (see below for more). A number of students and teachers worked hard on the secondary production of Songs and Monologues from 'The Greatest Showman' (see also below). Also, we all participated in our first interhouse competition on the afternoon of the 29th. Parents were invited to school to learn more about the new protocol for British Schools released by the Ministry in May, and for a workshop on Learning Through Enquiry.
We only have three weeks left in this term, and thus this is the last newsletter for 2018. During this time a delegation of students are going to be attending BISCMUN, with Ms March. They have been preparing and practising their skills for the past few months. We also have a rewards trip for Year 8 students to CFC. Over the Winter break, we wish our exam years (Year 10, AS, A2) all the best in their mock exam preparation.
'The Greatest Showman' is a story of overcoming your circumstances, rising above your station and never giving up on yourself; so it's perfect that we decided to perform it! Whilst the songs and monologues were challenging, our students (as always) rose to the challenge. Zeina Omar and Mona Hosny were excellent Assistant Directors and, as IB students, really developed their leadership skills. A big thank you to Mr Porter for the hours of music practice, to Ms Gammond for writing the monologues, and Ms Chow for her help with movement and dance!
