Dear Parents,

I can hardly believe that it is the end of November already, where has the time gone? The end of term 1 assessments have been completed and teachers now begin the marking and moderation process. The children and teachers will continue to work hard up until the last day of term. It is important that all children continue to come to school all day every day to maximise their learning opportunities.

School Uniform

As the colder weather is upon us and the children begin wearing jumpers and coats to school, these should be purchased in the school shop and not branded jumpers. At this time of year, we have over 1800 children all with the same jumpers and jackets, please ensure all of the uniform is labelled with your child's name and class so they can be returned to you should they be lost.

Remembrance Day

On the 11th November, the Head Boy and Girl, along with the Deputy Heads, attended a Remembrance Day Service in Heliopolis to mark the 100th anniversary since the end of the First World War. With pride, the students wore poppies – the enduring symbol of remembrance of the First World War – and sang hymns melodiously in the company of dignitaries from across the globe, all of whom attended to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers of the Great War.

Black and Orange Day

We started the month with Black and Orange day. Thank you to all of the parents for providing such well thought out and constructed costumes. Children, parents and teachers had great fun on the parade.

House Football Competition

Last Thursday saw the first house event for 2018-2019. Children were randomly selected to play in a football team for their house. All of the children and staff whether playing or watching had a very enjoyable afternoon. Please see the school's Facebook page for a video compilation of the event.

We look forward to the next event!

Musical Assemblies

We would like to invite you to join us to watch your children perform in their celebration of learning assembly which will be showcasing the musical skills practiced during term 1.

Assemblies will take place during period 6 starting promptly at 2:15pm.

Please see the dates below:

3.12.18 Year 3

10.12.18 Year 4

If your child usually goes home by bus but you decide to take them home directly from the assembly, please ensure that you have contacted reception prior to 1pm in order for your child to receive their green slip and the buses to be notified.

We will look forward to Year 5's performances in the new year – dates TBC.
